As 2025 draws to a close, ISOC-IL has once again been awarded the prestigious Gigabit rank badge by the Internet Society, the highest rank attainable within the organization, in recognition of its exceptional performance and vibrant activity over the course of the past year.
The Internet Society’s annual performance evaluation of its over 110 chapters worldwide aims to measure the quality and quantity of each chapter’s activity in pursuing our joint mission: promoting the development of the Internet as a global technical infrastructure, a resource to enrich people’s lives, and a force for good in society. The Israel Internet Association (ISOC-IL) has been the Israeli Chapter of the international Internet Society since 1995, proud to share the global organization’s mission of ensuring a safe, inclusive and free internet. This is ISOC-IL’s fifth consecutive year as a Gigabit chapter.
This momentum was also reflected at the Internet Society’s final regional meeting of the year, where Dima Assad Nikola, ISOC-IL’s Head of Digital Inclusion Programs, was one of five presenters to brief 60 representatives from Internet Society chapters throughout ISOC’s European region on ISOC-IL’s digital inclusion work. Dima introduced participants to the work of ISOC-IL’s Arab Expert Forum for Digital Inclusion, and in particular focused on this year’s annual Webna conference addressing digital issues in Arab society, which was funded in part by the Internet Society. The conference serves as a concrete example of ISOC funding translating into meaningful outcomes–and of the Internet Society’s confidence in the strategic relevance of ISOC-IL’s work.
This award is especially meaningful given the rapidly evolving digital realities ISOC-IL confronted throughout 2025, as emerging technologies and shifting societal dynamics continued to reshape the online ecosystem. In this complex environment, ISOC-IL pursued a wide-ranging agenda—ensuring the security and resilience of Israel’s internet infrastructure, building disinformation resilience, promoting safer online experiences with a strong focus on at-risk populations, using digital literacy education to reduce social divides, and producing timely research and data that support evidence-based regulation and policymaking.
Recognition from the international Internet Society affirms not only the strength of ISOC-IL’s work during the year, but also the enduring importance of sophisticated, multi-stakeholder leadership in safeguarding an internet that is open, secure, and beneficial for all. As we enter 2026, we look forward to expanding our work in Israel and strengthening our contribution to the global Internet Society community.
