Registering, renewing and modifying .il domain names is done via ISOC-IL Accredited Registrars.
These registrars are private enterprises certified by Israel Internet Association (ISOC-IL) as public Domain Registration Service Suppliers, who fulfill the technical, service and legal criteria, determined and regulated by ISOC-IL.
This model exists in most registries worldwide, often in democratic countries where ccTLDs are managed by non-government, non-profit organizations, who encourage competitive pricing and free trade among certified registrars.
Prior to choosing a registrar, it is recommended to compare prices and services offered by competitors. Here are some guidelines for choosing a registrar:
Request a Price Quote
It is wise to remember the cheapest price isn’t always the best deal. Request a detailed price quote, and verify additional costs or fees for any operations which may be required in the future.
Compare Service & Support Options
Make sure that the service provided is available, easy and efficient. Service conditions must be clearly defined in the contract and response time and support procedures should be both efficient and comprehensive. Check if the registrar offer technical and service support via multiple communication channels (telephone, fax, email, etc.).
Registrars regularly offer additional services such as registrar lock, server management, DNSSEC, and more.
Therefore it is recommended to determine which services you will need for your domain, choosing the registrar who provides the necessary services.
Updates and Alerts
Make sure that your registrar provides updates and alerts relating to your domain, especially regarding expiry of the registration period. You can read more about this in Domain Name Renewal.
Contract Termination & Transferring to a New Registrar
In addition to comparing prices and services, be informed about the registrar’s terms and conditions for terminating the contract, their domain unlocking and transferring procedure.
