Reassignment

What is Reassignment?

Reassignment is a procedure in which the rights to a domain name are legally transferred from one legal entity to another. The change is implemented via a request for Reassignment. This procedure entails registering an existing domain name under a different holder name. Reassignment is not modification, which is the procedure of updating a holder’s personal and contact data, administrative data, and the like.

What is required for Reassignment?

Reassignment may be applied if the domain name is valid (i.e., has not expired). In the event that a domain has expired, it must first be renewed and subsequently be reassigned.
The Reassign can only be performed with the consent of the domain name holder.

To receive complete instructions regarding submission of a request for reassignment, please contact your registrar.
A fee is required for the Reassignment procedure.

What is the purpose of a Reassignment Procedure?

An existing domain name is registered under a new holder. The “new” domain will be registered for a new maintenance period commencing with the completion of the reassignment process. Any information regarding the previous Holder will not be accessible.

It is important to note that current Holder information will not be available to the new holder, nor will information regarding the former and current DNS registered with a particular domain name. If the new Holder wishes to manage the domain name in the exact format under the previous DNS, the DNS server details must be explicitly detailed in the Reassignment Request Form.

Fees for the remaining maintenance period between establishing reassignment and expiration of the domain name prior to reassignment will not be refunded.
