The Israel Internet Association (ISOC-IL) has been the Israeli Chapter of the International Internet Society since 1995, proud to share the global organization’s mission of ensuring a safe, inclusive and free internet. As 2024 draws to a close, ISOC-IL has once again been awarded the prestigious Gigabit Rank badge by the Internet Society, the highest rank attainable within the organization, as a recognition of its exceptional performance and vibrant activity over the course of the past year. This is ISOC-IL’s fourth consecutive year as a Gigabit chapter.
The Internet Society’s annual Chapter Performance Evaluation reviews the standing of each of its worldwide chapters, and takes into account the quality and quantity of activity furthering the organization’s various areas of interest. Of 121 chapters evaluated, 85 earned Gigabit ranking, 19 chapters Megabit, and 5 chapters earned the Kilobit badge for this past year’s activities and commitment.
The award takes on particular significance given the complex digital landscape ISOC-IL has navigated throughout 2024, especially in addressing emergent challenges at the intersection of technological innovation and societal resilience. The organization’s multi-dimensional approach spans multiple key areas of expertise and interest, uniquely positioning it in this turbulent year to lead a wide range of impactful initiatives and activities including combating digital disinformation, promoting online safety in general and especially in vulnerable segments of the population, using the internet to bridge gaps within Israeli society, producing critical data and research used by national regulators in policy formulation, to name only a few.
This recognition from the international Internet Society validates not only programmatic achievements but also reinforces the importance of maintaining sophisticated, multi-stakeholder approaches to ensuring that digital spaces remain both open and secure.
