The Israel Internet Association (ISOC-IL) is proud to announce the successful completion of the Digital Desk Journalist Fellowship Program, an initiative of ISOC-IL’s Disinformation Resilience Israel (DRI) project, supported by the European Union. The program, led by ISOC-IL Disinformation and Digital Investigations Lead Nitsan Yasur, was launched in collaboration with the Israeli Journalists Association and designed to strengthen the information verification capacity of journalists working on the front lines of the information ecosystem.
Over the course of nine intensive sessions, approximately 20 outstanding journalists from a wide range of Israeli media outlets participated in hands-on training in digital investigation tools and methods. The program focused on equipping reporters with practical skills for conducting accurate, impactful, safe, and responsible journalism in the online sphere. Training was delivered by leading experts from Israel and abroad, bringing global best practices directly into the Israeli newsroom context.
Engagement throughout the program was exceptionally high. During the final session, ISOC-IL awarded certificates to participants, reviewed key insights, and heard firsthand how the training has already contributed to their reporting work. Participants also shared what they hope to see in future training cycles.
As part of the program’s open call for innovative journalism, ISOC-IL announced five original journalistic projects that will receive mini-grants to support their development. Each project emerged from the tools, inspiration, and professional mentorship provided throughout the course.
In addition to the extended training program, ISOC-IL also delivered on-site workshops to leading newsrooms across the country. These included sessions with Channel 12 News, Haaretz, Kan 11, the Union of Journalists in Israel, Local Call, an open training session for journalists from all media outlets and a training session with Arab journalists in collaboration with the I’lam Organization (The Arab Center for Media Freedom, Development and Research).
The Digital Desk program is a key component of ISOC-IL’s broader efforts to strengthen Israel’s information ecosystem, support high-quality journalism, and build national resilience against disinformation. With robust demand and positive feedback from journalists, ISOC-IL plans to continue expanding professional training opportunities as part of the DRI initiative.
