ISOC-IL’s Internet Safety Hotline, recognized as a Trusted Flagger by major online platforms active in Israel, is pleased to announce its inclusion in the Google Priority Flagger Program. This development marks a significant step in strengthening online user protection in Israel and further reinforces ISOC-IL’s role as a leading authority in identifying and combating online harms.
Until now, ISOC-IL held Trusted Flagger status only on Google’s YouTube platform, alongside other digital services and social media platforms outside the Google ecosystem. Through this work, our team has collaborated directly with platform safety teams to report and remove harmful and illegal content. With entry into the Priority Flagger Program, ISOC-IL now gains a direct and expedited channel for reporting and mitigating online threats and harms across a wide range of Google products and services.
The Google Priority Flagger Program grants select organizations—those demonstrating a high degree of public trust and professional capacity—access to an accelerated reporting mechanism. Through it, Priority Flaggers can directly report misleading ads, policy violations, fraudulent exploitation of services, and other harmful content across Google’s entire product ecosystem. These reports receive expedited review and prioritized enforcement.
Stronger Protection for Israeli Users
This advancement will allow ISOC-IL to respond more effectively to harmful activity reported by the public across platforms such as Google Ads (covering advertisements on YouTube, Gmail and more), as well as other Google products including Gmail accounts, Google Sites (often used to host scam sites), Google Forums, and additional services within the Google Workspace suite.
The goal: strengthening protections for Israeli internet users and accelerating the removal of harmful content and scams that endanger their safety and security.
Global Accountability and the DSA
ISOC-IL’s inclusion in this program also reflects a wider shift in Google’s approach to accountability, particularly in light of the Digital Services Act (DSA) adopted by the European Union. The DSA establishes a comprehensive regulatory framework for online platforms, requiring them to manage systemic risks, increase transparency, and ensure that users are better protected against illegal and harmful content.
While the DSA currently applies in Europe, ISOC-IL views its principles as a compelling model for advancing similar regulation in Israel. Establishing clear oversight mechanisms and stronger accountability standards for platforms operating in Israel is critical to protecting the public from online exploitation and reinforcing trust in the digital environment.
A Global Network of Trusted Partners
Other leading organizations worldwide have also been invited to join Google’s Priority Flagger Program, including FS-ISAC (Financial Services Information Sharing and Analysis Center), a non-profit working to reduce cyber threats in the global financial system, and ΣEE (Council of Media Monitoring, Greece), an independent body advancing self-regulation in advertising.
By joining this prestigious network, ISOC-IL further strengthens its role as Israel’s trusted national authority on online safety and as a bridge to global best practices in internet governance and user protection.
