As part of its ongoing mission to strengthen user safety on social media, ISOC-IL’s Internet Safety Hotline, a veteran member of Meta’s Trusted Partner program, recently participated in a specialized training session where Meta introduced a new reporting platform and resources for its Trusted Partners. The new Meta platform is designed to streamline the reporting process for online safety violations, enhancing Meta’s responsiveness to user reports of serious policy breaches.
The session reinforced Meta’s updated protocols for reporting high-severity violations, clarifying the types of content that fall within the scope of the Trusted Partner reporting channel. This engagement is vital for the Israeli internet community, as ISOC-IL’s Internet Safety Hotline serves as a valued public resource where Israeli internet users can seek assistance in cases of online abuse or harm, enhancing their sense of safety and accountability online. By staying up-to-date on policies from Meta and other leading social media platforms, ISOC-IL strengthens its authority and reliability for platform representatives and Israeli users alike.
ISOC-IL values its collaboration with Meta and other major platforms, working to sustain these relationships and stay current on the latest policy changes and security advancements. This commitment ensures ISOC-IL remains a strong advocate for the Israeli public in its interactions with these platforms. At the same time, ISOC-IL remains vigilant in monitoring and critiquing platform policies to advocate for public interests and user safety (see: Drowning in the Flood: Social Media Platforms’ Failure to Manage Harmful and Pro-Terror Content During Israel-Hamas War and Hijacking and Blocking of Business User Profiles on Meta Platforms.
Our latest annual survey on online violent discourse, published in Hebrew, shows a modest increase in the use of platform reporting mechanisms in Israel. Despite this progress, a gap in trust remains among users regarding the efficacy of these systems. We urge social media platforms to continue improving existing reporting systems and to significantly improve the response, service and transparency they provide to Israel’s user community.
