Haredi (Ultra-Orthodox) Society

With regard to Haredi, or ultra-Orthodox, society in Israel, our approach is centered around creating safe digital environments that respect and align with Haredi cultural and religious sensitivities. We collaborate with community-specific projects to develop safe internet portals and distribute tailored content. The goal is to ensure that members of the Haredi community can navigate the digital world securely and confidently, while their cultural values are upheld.

In 2021 we collaborated with the Haredi Institute for Public Affairs to conduct an extensive survey titled “Internet and Haredi Society in Israel: Usage and Attitudes“. The survey mapped out the characteristics and influencing factors of Internet usage patterns among Haredim, and uncovered significant differences as a function of gender and specific community.

The insights gleaned from this study will inform our ongoing efforts to foster an inclusive digital society, ensuring that all sectors, including Haredi society, can securely harness the full potential of the internet. Below are two examples of the data gleaned from the survey and ISOC-IL’s data segmentation tools.
